I love being a mom. And not only do I love being a mom, I love being a Boy Mom. Raising my two sons has given me a sense of purpose that I can’t adequately describe with words. And, ironically, now that they need me less, I am ready to make some great contributions to The Planned Approach- a firm filled with women! It feels so natural to be here- like it was meant to be.
I am a Kansas City native who continues to love this town, and the people in it. I have spent my career life serving others- right from my humble start at Archbishop O’Hara High School working at TGI Fridays! After graduating, I sampled a couple of careers and ended up at American Century Investments. There, as a Retirement Plan Specialist I learned a lot about assisting clients with their money and how confusing and emotional it could be for them. It made me feel good to help them with things that I found basic but meant the world to them. I enjoyed my time there, but decided my family needed me more and took time off to raise my two wonderful boys. It was a life decision I was grateful to be able to make.
While leading my family, I was drawn to serve once again, and found the National CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association. I became a CASA in 2014, which I still do to this day. This organization provides advocates to the most vulnerable children in our country. I am passionate about the organization and what I can contribute to it.
In 2018, I began working part time at The Planned Approach and quickly found that I loved being part of a team that would allow me to exhibit the exemplary service that I have been known for throughout my career. It is my goal to create a warm, comfortable environment, and to be able to proactively anticipate the needs of our clients.
My husband, Brian, and I live in Lee’s Summit with our two boys, Hank and Gus. The commute can be a lot, but it’s worth it when I walk into an office that feels more like a home than some people’s homes! I am a seasoned yogi, and you will find me on my mat several times a week- sometimes even leading a quick 10 minutes session with my co-workers!
